Key West Trip

Sorry it took me so long to post about our trip.
Our travels started on June 22 to Key West Florida, for our friends wedding. We woke up at 3:30 AM, needing to be at the airport by 5:30 to check in our luggage and get our boarding pass for our flight at 6:30 to Houston. The flight went smoothly. As we got to Houston, we had a 3 hour lay over, before our next flight to Miami. We just hung out and tried to sleep. We finally arrived to Miami about 6 PM and our friend who was suppose to pick us up wasn't there due to traffic, we had to wait a hour before he got there. As soon as our friend got to Miami, we hopped into the car and headed to Key West, about a 3 hour drive. About half way we stopped for dinner and kept traveling the Florida Keys. We finally arrive to Key West about 10 PM, and had to find our hotel. As I was booking our hotel, the manager told me she wasn't going to be there we arrived, so we had to go across the street to the tattoo shop to pick up our hotel key. It was pretty creepy and then we had to walk down a dark alley way to get into the hotel. The hotel had 2 locked down doors, before you actually go to your room. By this point, we worried about what the room was going to look like, it actually was pretty nice. It had a bed, TV, kitchenette, and bathroom (just a toilet and shower). I guess it was better than nothing. All we needed was a place to sleep. After we got settled, we went to find our friends and hung out for awhile. The main street everything was on was called Duval Street. That is where we hung out most of the time, just walking up and down the street for the first couple of days.
2nd Day: We slept in, got ready, went to Denny's for breakfast, set up our para-sailing trip, went to the beach. I wasn't too impressed.. I was expecting white sand, clear blue water, but it was like going to Pine view damn. Later on that night the girls and the guys split up to do their own thing (Bachelor & Bachelorette Party). The girls went out to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, and the rest of the first went out to the bars to drink, I just went back to our hotel and hung out with Case that night (the boys did the same thing) We were the only married couple that didn't drink.

3rd Day: Slept in all day! We didn't have anything planned until the wedding rehearsal at 4:30 pm. So we just relaxed until then. The rehearsal was at the beach. We all practiced going down the isle a couple time and then went over to our friend Brandon's (groom) parent's place to have pizza, go swimming, and go fishing in the canal.

4th Day: All the girls got up, had brunch at a cafe, relaxed and hung out, got ready for the wedding. We were about to leave for the wedding and it started raining pretty hard. We were all worried there wasn't going to be a wedding on the beach, but we waited a half hour, then it cleared up and we proceeded with the wedding. The ceremony was very nice. Case and I were both part of the wedding and set the ceremony off by walking down the isle first. After the ceremony we took pictures and had dinner. It was such a wonderful wedding to be apart of.

5th Day: Woke up early to got to the beach for our para sailing ride. As we were walking out the door, it started to rain hard once again. I was worried that our trip would get canceled. We just had to wait a hour for it to clear up. In that time we went to a museum about the city. I enjoyed the para sailing. The ride was smooth. As we got up in the air, we could see the whole island, and it was relaxing (even though it was a 12 min ride). later on that day we went snorkeling. I really didn't see much, just little fish and crabs. Case, saw a sting ray and some tropical fish. We each got to do something we wanted when we got down there. It was a fun day hanging out with each other.

6th day: We slept all day! We were exhausted from the wedding and the day before. About 4 o'clock we went to the beach and hung out with Brandon and Amy and went over to the Holmes' place again for a BBQ.
7th day: We did the same thing. Slept in, relaxed, and went shopping. We decided when your in Key West, you either need a lot of money or like to drink and party. Later on that night we went to a place called "Mallory Square" for a sunset celebration and where you watch the sunset and different entertainers do little shows ( magic, tumbling, knifes) and had little souvenir shops. It was fun! After the celebration we all went to see the movie Transformers.
8th day: Finally going home! we woke up to a phone call telling us, that we didn't have a ride to the airport and pretty much had to find a way by ourselves. So, we had to rent a car. As we arrived to the car rental place, as we were getting everything set up, they said our credit card was declined, because it was a debit card. So, we called Case's mom to see what she could do to help, luckily she helped out to make everything work out. Our car was some kind of convertible(something to get us to the airport) About a hour of driving we stopped for lunch. As we were waiting for our food, I received a phone call from the hotel saying we broke the silverware holder. got make-up on a pillow, and didn't do our dishes. And we would be charged $60 bucks for everything. I tried to explain to the manager that we had no idea about the silverware holder and had to do the dishes (usually that is what the maid does, that is their job). The manager was so upset she hung up on me. I called back and explained to her that I didn't sign anything regarding all of the problems. She finally said, let me look at your registration paper, and it wasn't signed (stupid lady!) She apologized and we were not charged. Thank Goodness! We finally arrived at the airport, got our luggage checked in and we were off on our flight to Houston. About half way through the flight, the pilot told us that Houston was having weather problems and couldn't land, so we stopped in Louisiana to refuel on gas and we would see what would happen. After 30 minutes we took off and was headed to Houston. When we finally landed, we had already missed our connecting flight to Salt Lake, do the airport gave us discount tickets for a hotel and rescheduled our flight to SLC for 9:30 on the morning. So, Case and I booked a hotel, took a shuttle to the hotel. By this time we were starving, so we went across the street to go to Taco Bell, but it was closed. So we ended up at the gas station to get food. Case had a burrito and I had a lunchable with chips. We checked into the hotel and it was so nice. (A $350 room for $77) It was wonderful! A king size bed, a pull-out couch, two TVs. This was the best part of the whole trip. We woke up early to shuttle back over to the airport to catch our flight. As soon as we got into our seats, we both closed our eyes and took a nap for awhile. As soon as we entered the SLC region we were so excited, we were almost home. WE FINALLY LANDED IN SLC! My mom was there to pick us up. We were so happy to see her. As we got home, Case had to get ready and go to work the rest of his shift. Luckily, I didn't have to go in to my work. I just relaxed.
And, now I can say, "HOME SWEET HOME"
